There’s the ice hotel in Quebec, the Great Stalacpipe Organ in Virginia, cowboy poetry readings, what to do in Louisville after the Derby’s over, and for every city, dozens of unexpected suggestions and essential destinations.
The book is organized by region, and subject-specific indices in the back sort the book by interest—wilderness, great dining, best beaches, world-class museums, sports and adventures, road trips, and more. Customer Reviews:
I loved Patricia Schultz’s 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, & gave away copies to friends who loved travelling. This second follow-up, 1,000 Places to See in the united states & Canada Before You Die is another winner. Though Canada is not as comprehensively covered as the united states, the book serves its intention - to entertain & inspire, even armchair travellers like me. there’s nuggets of information in here, & a treasure trove of ideas that can keep most aspiring/keen travellers happy, content, & entertained.
Schultz has come up with a companion book to her first best-selling book, & has done all the home-work for us & has drawn up our To Do List: 1000 places in North the united states that should get even the most lethargic out of their armchairs. i like the balance of the wellknown & unknown, the extravagant & free-of-charge, the easily available & those gems way off the beaten track. Even those who proclaim we know the united states inside out will have a few hundred new must-do’s to keep them busy & elated for the next few decades.
I purchased this book for my mother, who is newly retired. While visiting him the other day, I glanced through the book to see check marks listed beside places that we has been. Not only that….my mom & dad have a trip planned to the Western U.S. & have used this book as a planning guide. My dad is so excited that we will be able to check off 4 more places after the trip!
If you love to travel then this book is definitely for you. I retired recently & have been doing a little travelling but mostly to nearby areas. But after checking out this book I took out my Road Atlas & started mapping designs for longer & better trips. A fine addition to a travelling persons library.
So plenty of children think there is nothing to see in the United States, that it’s all out of the Country. there is a lot to see all over the world However, this book shows you what there is to see here in the US & Canada. My husban & i have already looked at things we would like to go see together & my boys ages 17 & 19 have looked through it & found some stuff we never knew was there to see. I will be getting them each their own copy so that we can mark off what we have seen as we go along.
